Great cider press

Great product for the priceI really like this model although when you swing it open it will tip over if you don't prop it against something, hold it, or bolt it down.Even so, I still prefer this model over the other style.I plan to build a small stand for it so the juice will flow into a bucket instead of a shallow pan. well made, great little press.I use it with a scratter that chops apples and then press with this for apple cider.

Works fine but needs a bit more.

The press works great. Too bad they cheaped out and did not include enough blocks. No big deal to make, but you will need to cut additional blocks to squeeze all the juice out, especially if you are doing a partial batch. You will also need to build a base for it big enough to stand on to prevent the press from turning as you apply pressure.

Works great for small batches of juice!

This fruit press is exactly what I was looking for in order to press small batches of juice. I have two apple trees and a small pear tree...as well as neighbors around the area with apple, cherry, and pear trees. The press holds over a gallon of fruit, but you have to shred/grind up apples before you press or else it does a whole lot of nothing. The first pass I just diced the apples into 1/2 inch chunks, and barely any juice came out until I took the apples back out and ground them up in a food processor before pressing.

I found the best way to prep the apples is to cut them in half or quarters and run them through the course grating disc of a food processor, which produces nice thin shredded apples. I fill up a huge tub of those, and then dump it into the press until it is full. You can then press this down to about 1/3 of the size as juice comes out.

I have done almost two 5gal buckets full of apples, and I am getting around 1.5 gallons of juice per bucket of apples. I could probably squeeze more out if I kept turning, and waiting a few min, then turn some more...but I don't have enough time or patience for more than a few rounds of that. I have around 30 gallons of blemished apples from my trees this year to shred and juice, but now that I have a decent press and figured out how to prep the apples quickly I may actually grab all the unwanted apples from the neighbors trees next year too!

Anyway, if you have the patience to grind or shred up buckets full of apples I would recommend this as a decent low-cost beginner press. If you have more than like a 55-gal drum of apples then I would go with a bigger size press and a real fruit grinder to save your time and sanity.

Mostly good.

Worked well but the filtration bag is too small for it.
