Functional when complete but assembly was a bit complicated

The instructions are fairly complete but inaccurate in one important way, and the build quality is middling. Important: If you bolt the casters to the legs with the bolts oriented as instructed, you cannot assemble the legs to the base. The bolts must be reversed (with the Phillips heads on top when the base is down). I also received two identical support straps, when one of them is supposed to be the mirror of the other. I worked around this by simply twisting the strap into place and bolting it in.When in the storage position, the retaining pins just barely clear the bottoms of the arms, because the build tolerances are loose. The product listing says it includes a load balancer, but I did not receive one. I will contact the seller. Also, I received one part, kind of a welded saddle, that is not on the parts list or the assembly diagram. I don't know what it is or what it's for. Oh, well. That said, now that it's assembled and I've purged the air from the ram, it looks like it's going to do the job. As others have mentioned, the price is significantly lower than most other sources, so for a hack mechanic like me, it's not a bad choice.

Decent lift for the money

The hoist does the job, nothing fancy but lifted my hemi 5.7 about 6' when I pulled it. Oddly, the handle holder, a piece of pipe, welded to the frame is too small for the holder. Quality control? If you just need to pull a few engines, it works. Not commercial grade, but inexpensive.

Solid

It's been a while since I've pulled a motor, but I've done it a few times and I'm confident this will work great. I haven't used it yet, and when I do I'll post more pictures and update the review, but for now I wanted to provide first thoughts. The quality is superb; better than a certain freight that comes into a nameless harbor, if you catch my drift. There's a lot of flexibility built in to this, allowing you to tailor it to your application. Everything is adjustable, making this essentially universal. This is great if, for instance, you own one of the Buick regals that require you to detach the motor from it's mounts to change a serpentine belt. Or if you need to perform transmission work, this will help support the motor while you drop the transmission. Honestly, you could probably find other uses for this as well. It's a solid investment for those of us who tinker, fix, or build/machine.
